Site Specific Information for Sponsors Seeking Investigative Sites
Family Health Care of Ellensburg is a privately owned rural health clinic, primary care facility located in Ellensburg, Washington. The practice is owned and managed by Byron Haney, MD and John Walters, MD. Our staff of providers/investigators also includes Chad Mongrain, DO, Stephanie Brower, MD, Ryan Beachy, PA-C and Aaron Long, ARNP. All four physicians are board certified Family Practice Physicians. We hope the following information will be of help to you in evaluating our practice as a potential investigative site.
We have dedicated the necessary time, space, equipment and training of personnel to conduct studies efficiently and carefully. Our goal is to expand and continue our involvement in clinical research. We are happy to adjust our practice schedule to accommodate the requirements of participation in clinical research projects. We emphasize the following points to ensure sponsor satisfaction: timely study initiation, achieving or exceeding enrollment goals, accurate data capture, subject retention, and meeting data entry timelines.
Family Health Care of Ellensburg is a growing family practice with a current active patient population of over 9,000 patients of varied ethnic backgrounds. Our patient population spans the full age spectrum from neonates to geriatrics (providing potential study populations for a wide range of products, medications and devices). The emphasis of our practice will continue to be improvement of health care in every approach.
- Byron Haney, MD serves as Principal Investigator for all clinical trials conducted at our site.
- John Walters, MD, Chad Mongrain, DO, Stephanie Brower, MD, Ryan Beachy, PA-C and Aaron Long, ARNP serve as Sub-Investigators.
- Diane Bowman, CMA, CCRC is our full time ACRP Certified Clinical Research Coordinator. Her ACRP certification is additional assurance that any studies entrusted to us will be conducted in accordance with the highest standards of Good Clinical Practice Guidelines.
The combined experience of our staff includes drug, biologic, nutrition, and device studies in phases II through IV.

Family Health Care of Ellensburg is located within 1 mile of Kittitas Valley Community Hospital and emergency services. Our office includes fifteen exam rooms, onsite x-ray, EKG, spirometry, tympanometry, and colposcopy capability. Our laboratory facilities have pertinent CLIA certification for phlebotomy, incubation of cultures, hemoglobin measurement, urine testing (dip urinalysis, pregnancy tests), wet mounts, stool tests, drug testing, etc. Appropriately trained and certified staff is available for preparing blood, urine, and tissue samples to be shipped to central laboratories.
Other services available to our patients include well baby care, school, sports and work physicals, annual physicals, health screenings, gynecologic care, obstetrics, splint and casting, simple bladder catheterization, allergy testing and treatment, nerve conduction studies, in office surgeries (removal of skin lesions, suturing, vasectomies, circumcision, endometrial biopsy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, wound incision and drainage, joint injection, nail removal, etc.), Coumadin clinic, and Ideal Protein Weight Loss Program.
Refrigerator and freezer storage for investigational products and laboratory samples are available. Limited access, temperature controlled storage facilities are on site for study test articles and document maintenance. Our EMR system is fully customizable and has the ability to accommodate complex data capturing. We routinely make use of central IRBs. Ample office space, equipment and internet access are available for CRA monitoring visits.
