Dr. Byron Haney earned his medical degree from Indiana University in 1982 and completed his residency in Family Practice at Scenic General Hospital in Modesto, California. He then opened his own private Family Medicine practice in Oakdale, California, specializing in a range of services like preventive care, OB/GYN, occupational medicine, counseling and emergency medicine.
It was 5 years later that Dr. Haney brought his family to Kittitas County to settle in a more rural community. Dr. Haney's history with Ellensburg began years earlier through the cattle industry. He funded his college education through a commercial nut harvesting and beef business. He founded Family Health Care of Ellensburg in 1990 and has provided a wide range of cutting edge family care services for over 20 years, focusing on technology in the outpatient setting and a high level of innovative quality of care. Dr. Haney coordinates research and clinical trials for both adults and children. His additional professional experience ranges from serving on the executive committee at Kittitas Valley Hospital to counseling pregnant teens and educating staff. He also serves as a speaker for the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) at their on the topic of Shared Medical Appointments.
Dr. John Walters has a range of clinical experience in the United States and abroad. After graduating from Philadelphia's MCP-Hahnemann School of University Medicine in 2000, he completed his residency in family practice at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. He then continued his work with the Naval Hospital in Yokosuka, Japan as the Department Head of Family Practice.
After four years providing inpatient and obstetric care as well as working in the emergency room, Dr. Walters returned home and joined Family Health Care of Ellensburg. He uses his broad range of experience to provide care for adults and children of all ages as well as obstetric care. Dr. Walters has also worked as a classroom assistant at homes for mentally disabled children, providing care for them in a school or residential setting.
Dr. Chad Mongrain earned his Doctor of Osteopathy from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2003 and completed his residency at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas in 2006. Specializing in family practice, Dr. Mongrain cared for children and adults ranging in age from newborn to geriatric, including obstetrical care. He also has provided care for underprivileged and uninsured migrant communities living along the US-Mexico border in third-world conditions.
Dr. Mongrain has also worked in a number of volunteer medical positions, including the Grace Clinic - a Christian outreach clinic that provides medical care, dental care, counseling and food for uninsured and underinsured people - as well as working in Ecuador to provide medical care for the region's indigent population. He came to Family Health Care of Ellensburg in 2010 and provides a wide range of medical care services for patients of all ages. Dr. Mongrain also is presently serving as Medical Director for Care Net, a local nonprofit ministry that helps crisis pregnancies.
Dr. Stephanie Brower joins us as our sole female physician. She has a range of clinical experience in the United States and abroad. After graduating from Temple University School of Medicine in 2003, she completed her residency in family practice at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. She then continued her residency work at Sewa Bhavan Hospital, a Christian Mission Hospital in Jagdesshpur, India. During her 6 weeks in India, she performed third world family medicine including neonatal care and OB/GYN surgery.
Dr. Brower then returned stateside and joined the Benewah Community Hospital in St. Maries, Idaho where she practiced full spectrum family medicine including obstetrics with c-sections, and hospital medicine until joining us in July 2012 at Family Health Care of Ellensburg. She uses her range of experience to provide primary care for adults and children, as well as obstetric care. Dr. Brower comes to us with a vast array of awards and accomplishments honoring her for her excellence in practice, academics and volunteer work
Ryan Beachy, PA-C, MPAS began his medical career working as an Anesthesia Technician and ER Technician at Philadelphia's Frankford Hospital. He went on to study Physician Assistant Studies at James Madison University. He joined Family Health Care of Ellensburg in 2006.
As a Physician Assistant, Ryan works with patients independently as well as aiding physicians with their care practices. He works with nursing home and rehab patients as well as providing physicals and examinations. Prior to medicine, Ryan served in the Navy for 4 years with a Hover Craft unit based out of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Ryan also has experience as a Neurosurgical Physician Assistant and has assisted with many neurological studies.
Aaron Long, ARNP joined us at Family Health Care of Ellensburg in September 2012. After graduating from California State University in 2003, he obtained his Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate and Physician's Assistant Certificate from the University of California at Davis. In 2006, Aaron completed his MS in Nursing at California State University.
Aaron brings a wide range of experience to our clinic, having practiced in both Oregon and California. While in Enterprise, Oregon, Aaron worked in the surgery field at Wallowa Memorial Hospital and as an RN in the ICU while employed with Memorial Medical Center in Modesto, California. His variety of expertise allows him to work hand in hand with our physicians to provide comprehensive care.
